MR. BUCK AWBREY
Thomas Alonza Awbrey, Jr., known to all as “Buck”, passed away at his home March 28,
A proud lifelong citizen of this small town, he was born in Franklin, Georgia on July 1, 1961.
Buck had a passion for music and loved nothing more than to sing Karaoke. He also enjoyed
watching NASCAR, traveling to new places, and always had a good time.
Buck always worked hard, first at the family business, Franklin Motor Company. Later in life
he held several successful jobs, including working for Georgia Power at Plant Wansley,
serving as an operator for the Heard County Water Authority, working as a custodian for
Heard County High School and alongside his mother at Franklin First Baptist Church, and
most recently being a part of the Georgia Department of Transportation crew.
Buck was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Thomas Alonza Awbrey, Sr. and Hazel Marie
Awbrey. He is survived by his sister, Vickie Warren (Lonnie) of Franklin, and two nieces,
Crystal Valencia (Fabian) of Newnan, and Catherine Warren of Roopville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 30, 2021 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Stutts
Funeral Home with Pastors Neil Awbrey and Andrew Owensby officiating. The family will
receive the fellowship of friends from 2:30 until the hour of the funeral service. A graveside
service will be conducted at Franklin City Cemetery.
